What drivers say matters most
Three things come up in almost every driver conversation we have, on camera or on WhatsApp. First, the total weekly cost — not the headline rate but what is left after insurance, servicing and the deposit. Second, how fast the company responds when a car has a problem. Third, whether the terms let them stop or pause without a penalty if driving does not work out. Below is where Fresh Cars stands on each.
On cost, Fresh Cars PHV rental starts from $420/week or $1,700/month for a sedan and from $511/week for a hybrid. Commercial insurance, road tax, servicing, unlimited mileage and replacement are included, so the rate on the card is the rate you pay; fuel and ERP are the only extras. On response, we run an in-house workshop and a 24/7 roadside line with a four-hour replacement guarantee. On flexibility, weekly plans renew week to week, monthly plans can be ended with one month's notice, and switching between the two carries no penalty.
Choosing the right car as a PHV driver
Drivers who rent from us split roughly the same way the fleet does. Sedans — Toyota Altis, Mazda 3, Honda City — are the lowest weekly rent and suit part-time drivers or anyone new to the platform. Hybrids — Toyota Aqua, Prius, Honda Vezel Hybrid — cost about $90 more per week but save roughly $30–40 a week in fuel for a full-time driver, and are newer cars. Over a month the fuel saving on a hybrid is around $300, which offsets a good part of the difference.
Whichever you pick, every car is LTA-registered for private hire with the PHV decal fitted and commercial insurance in place, so there is nothing to arrange before you add it to your Grab, Gojek, Tada or Ryde account.
How to start
With a valid PDVL, Class 3/3A licence, NRIC or FIN and a card for the deposit, approval is usually same day. Collect at our Kaki Bukit showroom and you are on the road. If you do not have a PDVL yet, we can walk you through the LTA application, which takes around two to four weeks.
